Grilled Corn with Teriyaki Butter
In this fusion-y version of Mexican street corn, teriyaki butter is slathered on corn, then bundled back up, grilled, and topped with a squeeze of lime, queso fresco and cilantro.
Buttermilk Maple Gelato
I know, another ice cream recipe - but it's easy and tasty and I will make it again, so I am posting! By the way, what really IS the difference between ice cream and gelato? Milk vs cream? Fancy sounding vs not so much? I like fancy sounding. I did NOT get a good photo of the actual product because it got gobbled up so fast, so you get a picture of my great nephew wishing the friggin' paparazzi (me) would leave him alone while he eats.

Maple-Lacquered Duck Breast
A few of my favorite things - duck, a little sweet, a little spicy, a little citrus. And simple - really this comes together in a snap. And as an extra added bonus you get to use the word lacquered. One simply does not get to say lacquered often enough.
Twice Baked New Potatoes
First off, they aren't really twice baked, but that is just what we call them. I often make these to take to parties and they are usually gone in about 2.7 seconds. Tasty, portable, and a good base for those of you who will be - ahem - tipping a few. I don't make them fancy or twirly or piped - these are rustic chunky looking little fellas. Mr L is thrilled that the theme initiated a sudden midweek new tater incident.
Kir Royale Jello Shots
This is what happens when an Italian guy goes to a frat party in Paris. Maybe. Or something like that. - aargersi
Cherry Milksicles
Not much of a back story, just an idea that popped into my head and turned out pretty darn tasty! I got one of those ZOKU popsicle makers for my birthday, so that's what I used and it worked great!!! - aargersi
Fried Mush
I realize that the name does not sound promising, however ... when we were kids my Mom and my Stepdad had a cool old VW camper van, you know the kind with the mini fridge and the fold down table, and a bunk area in the back? They would pack the van and we would go camping, first in Baja and around California, then later in New Mexico and Colorado ... Mom always packed her iron skillet and everything needed for fried mush, which is somehow better eaten outdoors by a morning campfire but still delicious in my kitchen just now ... Mom also instructed me not to go messing with the recipe as I am wont to do, but rather to cook it as it is meant to be cooked. My Mom is an artist ... I didn't inherit her talent for creating visual art but I do think that my inherited creativity comes out in the kitchen. For more on Mom's art check out : www.marysegal.com - aargersi
eggs and baskets
This is more of an idea than an actual recipe, so I am including the what and you can determin the how much / how many based on what your need is - I love serving this tray of treats at parties because each little bite packs a real flavor punch, plus, they're cute! May I suggest serving blood orange mimosas with them?
