Jack N’ Ginger’s Passion Punch
This sneaky punch is inspired by POG – Passion Orange Guava – a popular tropical fruit juice blend first bottled by Haleakala Dairy in the 1970’s. Using grapefruit instead of orange gives the punch a tasty bitter edge, while ginger beer complements the dark character of the whiskey. Passion fruit and guava infuses some of my favorite island flavors and keeps you going back for more, think of this as a tropical twist to ring in the New Year!

Raspberry Riesling Sherbet
This perfect summer treat needs just 5 ingredients: fruit, milk, buttermilk, sugar, and riesling. The result? A perfectly balanced, sweet dessert.
Perfumed Adzuki Beans and Rice with Bourbon and Bacon
We enjoyed this adzuki beans and bacon dish recipe right out of the pan for a warming lunch during a cold snap. This is easy to prepare and full of flavor.
Cranberry Bucheron with Frangelico
My favorite hors d'oeuvres are easy to put together and full of flavor. It is no wonder then, that I love baked cheese and often have at least one version on the table during cocktail hour. Although I usually turn to brie for this task, this recipe is lovely with bucheron.
Trick-or-Treat-tini
This may look like a trick, but one sip and you will see that it is a TREAT! A midori cocktail is the first thing that popped in my mind when this week’s theme was announced – it is the perfect wicked witch green! This is what the adults at my house will be drinking on Halloween. Note: The black lava sea salt contains activated charcoal, which has a very dramatic visual effect against the fluorescent green of the midori. I will post a photo soon.
Summer Cherry Diablo
I'm an oenophile, but that's about it when it comes to enjoyment of evening beverages. However, in anticipation of this cherry challenge, I asked my husband to pick up a bottle of tequila on Friday night. I had visions of a cherry sorbet tequila cocktail dancing in my head. Here we are on Sunday, tequila gone, my fingertips stained from pitting two pounds of cherries, and the Summer Cherry Diablo to show for it. Hard work, but someone has to do it, happily in the name of summertime, cherries, and food52. NOTE: This is my summertime take on the classic El Diablo, replacing Crème de cassis with my Summer Cherry Sorbet.
Summer Cherry Sorbet
The long hot summer is here and I've been making sorbet with my children almost every day of the week. This luscious sorbet sings of cherries ripened in the summer sun. Lime is a natural partner with cherry as long as it doesn't steal the show; the trick is finding the right balance to allow the cherry flavor to shine. I think this sorbet does just that. NOTE: I've been experimenting with agave and am not sure if it is necessary to boil the water/agave mixture to make a syrup. I've come across some recipes that simply mix the agave in. However, when I made this recipe I boiled the syrup and so that's how I have it written. This sorbet is also best within a day or two of making it; it gets a little hard once it sits in the freezer for an extended period of time. TIP: If you are making a lot of sorbets like I have been, making the simple syrup the night before is a time saver. Doing it ahead of time ensures that my syrup is extra cold and ready for the next concoction. - gingerroot
