A Dozen Eggs
I burnt an entire pot of eggs today. This is the story.
Cacio e Pepe "Gelato"
I remember seeing a recipe for Grana Padano Ice Cream a few years ago on David Rocco's cooking show. It looked so delicious and easy. My version is adapted from WaPo's Parmigiano ‘Gelato’ and inspired by Sarah Jenkins’s Cacio e Pepe recipe here on the site.
Grape Fool
Adapted from the recipe for Grapes with Brown Sugar and Sour Cream in James Beard’s American Cookery and inspired by my dunking a grape directly into the container of sour cream, then into the sugar bowl, and popping it right into my mouth. This is way more classy.
Fragrant Kumquat Marmalade
Adapted from the recipe for Kumquat Marmalade in Alice Waters' book Chez Panisse Fruit, I used my favorite white wine as the cooking liquid. It smells amazing.
Simple Minted Hominy
This Simple Hominy recipe was inspired by a can of hominy that I impulse-purchased. Alternately, use regular canned corn, if you'd like, or a fresh ear of corn.
Homemade Mascarpone
Every time I make this, I'm surprised at how much better it tastes than store bought domestic mascarpone. When sourcing your heavy cream for this recipe, do try to stay away from ultra pasteurized cream. I have found that it inhibits the thickening. Adapted from my Lemon Posset recipe.
Fleur de Lys
Sorta like a Mimosa, but with a little Pernod and Cointreau. I know it sounds weird, but trust me, it's delicious.

Nutella Mocha Frappé
Sconegirl and I created this recipe for her Italian class video project. She and two friends put together a fabulous menu of homemade gnocchi, cannoli and this frappé. The video is so entertaining, and contains a hysterically funny blooper reel at the end (including unplanned pyrotechnics.)
Milk and Honey
If I’m trying to relax, a mug of warm milk always seems to do the trick. So does liquor, but this honey and milk recipe is a more virtuous non-alcoholic option.
Edamame with Sea Salt and Lime
For this recipe, I like to slightly nudge my edamame out of their pods with a gentle squeeze, swipe the lime wedge, dip in the sea salt, and munch. Yum!
Lemon Posset
This Lemon Posset recipe is a wonder of science. It's the perfect thing for anyone who harbors a weakness for this sort of milky, comforting, nursery-food.
