Direct to the Oven Roasted Pork Chops
Using the Food 52's "All about pork chops" guide I picked some center cut pork hops for this recipe. Just 5 ingredients, a few minutes of dry brining and they go direct to the oven without the need to be seared on the stove. They turned out juicy and crisp thanks to some butter for self-basting and a high oven-short time cooking. With some chimichurri or pesto and a salad they make a great and easy weeknight dinner!

Papaya, Jicama, Cucumber Salad
The tangy lime dressing really pulls the flavors together in the dish!

On Hand Chocolate Souffle
I googled a bunch of quick chocolate things and then used my back pocket knowledge to bake this. Me version requires an oven safe ramekin. If you don't have one on hand, I reccomend turning to google and conducting experiments like I did. Serves one hungry chef or some friends willing to share.

Roasted wine grapes, walnuts and olives
This is a winemaker's recipe that is an interesting appetizer or even wonderful dessert -- especially when there is some red wine still left on the table. I saw a version of this in Food & Wine Magazine back in the '80s and have since modified it to improve on the outcome.

Waverley Root's Agrigento Red Cabbage with Black Olives and Capers
Sweet and sour braised cabbage is a familiar character in German beer hall menus, with the punch of vinegar usually offset by melted brown sugar and apples. But as I've come to learn from this Sicilian recipe published in 1974, what braised cabbage might have really needed all along wasn't wasn't sweetness, but umami, in the form of black olives and crushed capers. Adapted slightly from [The Best of Italian Cooking](http://www.amazon.com/Waverly-Roots-Best-Italian-Cooking/dp/B0031VZ9H4/?tag=food52-20) (Grosset & Dunlap, 1974).

Sweet Potato Pudding
Is this a recipe… I don't know. IT is so stupid simple with little effort and the results are amazing. Plus it's a great way to use up any left over baked sweet potatoes.

The delicious baked rabbit with mushrooms, honey, and beer recipe that follows is one of my all-time favorite ones and triggers only joyful family memories.

This recipe is gonna sound weird, but you have to trust me on this one. These yummy meatballs are seriously one of my favorite things my Grandmama makes.

Anchovy Buttered Cabbage
A small plate of handmade northern Italian pasta, bigoli en salsa, that I had at North and Navy inspired this concoction. The salsa originally consists of stewing pounds of white onions with olive oil, anchovies, and white wine until creamy. While it's a no-brainer to sub butter for olive oil, I'm not sure how I ended up using cabbage in place of onions and garlic instead of white wine. Anyhow, it ended up being two of the best decisions I've made in the kitchen.

Quinoa, Oat and Chia Porridge
This is a mixed grain porridge recipe flavoured with Vanilla and topped with Pear. This Oatmeal With Quinoa And Chia is delicious, hearty and good for you!

Red Kuri Squash Soup with Crispy Bulgur, Fennel Seeds & Curcuma
This soup is a celebration of all things Fall. A Red Kuri squash soup, that I cook really simply with no particular twist, I don’t feel that it really needs any. I just go creative on the toppings : crispy bulgur with curcuma and fennel seeds, it adds a little depth to the soup. If you like some heat, I recommend also adding a pinch of chili powder !

Saucy Chicken
This recipe was handed down to me from a woman I used to baby sit for. She made her "Saucy Chicken" for us for dinner, and I immediately knew this wasn't a regular roasted chicken -- I was absolutely blown away and told her I needed the recipe. I add a lot more garlic to my version, and I always make sure to mince the garlic and add it to the olive oil bath. Once you make it, you will see why!

Sweet Potato Skin Bake
For sweet potato skeptics, this bake is only slightly sweet—but rich and bubbly and crisp and everything you wanted from a potato skin that you've never gotten.

Paal Payasam (3-Ingredient Rice Pudding)
There is a rather endearing practice common to almost all communities in India. At the first hint of anything positive and good in the horizon, any good news—a promotion at work, good grades in school, a college acceptance letter, news of a distant relative's pregnancy, the Indian cricket team scoring a win, doesn't matter what—30 minutes later there invariably will be a sweet dessert ready to share as a thanksgiving. In my house, it's a simple rice pudding known as paal payasam. Its a snap to make. Its not quite as thick as the English version, more like a thick soup.

Enjoy Home-Brewed Tea, Anywhere
Regardless of whether or not you’re from the South, brewed iced tea likely has a special meaning to you. Maybe your grandmother brewed it extra sweet and added a few mint leaves for garnish, or maybe your sister serves it at brunch with a slice of lemon. Iced tea always seems to conjure up fond memories for me, that warm feeling of “coming home”.

A very simple, cheap recipe for tasty pink princess pasta with beetroots, blue cheese, and ham. Requires nearly zero skill and goes well with almost all kids.
Pan Roasted Bengali Carrots and Beans with Lime
This recipe is a staple in my house especially during the months of August, September and October when the garden is brimming with crisp green beans and sweet and tender carrots. The recipe uses the classic Bengali 5 spice seasoning called panchphoron an aromatic medley of fennel, cumin, black mustard seeds, nigella seeds and fenugreek, ginger and is finished off with a sprinkle of fresh lime and sometimes when I do not have lime handy I use red wine vinegar. This is similar to the potato and cauliflower recipe that I featured in my cookbook, The Bengali Five Spice Chronicles but, this one is well suited to be eaten as a cooked salad as well. I personally do not add salt to the recipe because I feel it showcases the flavors of the fresh vegetables better, feel free to adapt this to your taste.

Creamy Cauliflower "Alfredo" Sauce
Creamy and dream-like, this sauce is instead made from cauliflower! Can be made vegan, paleo, gluten free and low fat.

Maple Roasted Tomato Sauce
If you can stand turning on your oven during peak tomato season, this a four ingredient wonder worth trying. Serve sauce as is or add something briny like olives or capers to balance the sweetness.
