Bacon Tomato Chawan Mushi
We eat a lot of chawan mushi in this house. There is nothing like the silky custard with slightly sweet and smokey broth topped with delicacies like crab, lobster or just a really good roasted shiitake sliced paper thin. I recently tried David Chang's bacon dashi which substitutes bacon for the bonito flakes and could not shake the idea of taking it a step further. In order to replace the seaweed I needed some other umami booster and pondered the tomato. I wanted the custard to stay a lovely pale yellow and settled on making a bacon-infused tomato water in place of the broth. This will obviously be a better dish to make at the end of summer when tomatoes are abundant, but I couldn't shake the idea and gave it a go. The garnish, I think, is crucial, but could be a variety of options on hand.

BLT Wrapped Bites with Feta Cheese
I love cherry tomatoes and especially love the varieties available. With a box of cherry heirlooms, this preparation came to mind. The trick was to come up with a bite that would be easy to prepare and not wind up on everyone's laps or my floor. Serving the bites enveloped in romaine lettuce leaves makes it easy for eaters to wrap up the filling, and enjoy the feeling of a BLT. I prefer using feta cheese to blue cheese or chevre - blue cheese will be sharper in flavor; chevre milder.
Rad Raddish BLT
I'm a sucker for a BLT, so recently I tried to vary up the usual Lettuce-Tomato-Mayo combo. This wild and crazy sammie has radishes, watercress and guacamole for a spicy, earthy twist.
Bacon Wrapped Roasted Radishes
Heating radishes gives them new life. They soften. They mellow. They become buttery. Try this Bacon Wrapped Radishes recipe, it will blow your mind!

Frank de Carlo's Black Chickpea Soup

Orecchiette with Spicy Sausage and Ramps
A simple spring dish, whipped together in half an hour, this pasta gets a meaty kick from the sausage, and a mellow sweetness from sauteed ramps. Feel free to use young leeks if you can't find ramps.

Maple Chipotle Roast Pork Tenderloin
A Pork Tenderloin roasting in Maple and Chipotle is what bacon in heaven must smell like. I love that this is a no-bowl recipe that comes together easily.
Smoky Garlic Chives, Squash and Bacon
Quick and easy stir fry. Kouza squash is my preferred squash for this dish but yellow squash and zucchini are fine substitutes.

Sage and Walnut Roasted Porkchop
Preheat your oven to 375F and place an ovensafe pan inside to temper. Season your porkchop with salt and pepper, and press a sage leaf onto one side of the porkchop. Take the tempered pan (carefully) out of the oven and set on a low-medium flame and place face down into a dry hot pan. Allow some light carmelization on the face down side before turning over and allowing the other side to reach same color (about 3.5 - 4 mins) then add walnuts lightly handcrushed into the pan and place in the oven. In about 15 minutes check the porkchop, testing with a sharp knife by placing into the center of the porkchop and feeling the knife, should feel like warm bathwater for medium rare, leave 3 mins longer to have medium and 3 more to be well. Pull pan out of oven and add two tablespoons of butter to the pan and add another fresh sage leaf and garlic clove (skin on). Baste with butter and sage leaf until you have a simple pan sauce and serve.

Italian Tomato Sauce
Grilled Peaches with Mozzarella, Basil and Prosciutto
This is a delicious bite that my Sister-in-Law turned us on to last Winter.
Twice Baked New Potatoes
First off, they aren't really twice baked, but that is just what we call them. I often make these to take to parties and they are usually gone in about 2.7 seconds. Tasty, portable, and a good base for those of you who will be - ahem - tipping a few. I don't make them fancy or twirly or piped - these are rustic chunky looking little fellas. Mr L is thrilled that the theme initiated a sudden midweek new tater incident.

Prosciutto Crudo Bites Of Love

Fall Hash
With only 3 ingredients, what's not to love? Acorn squash finally has a place in our home (besides being part of a decorative centerpiece!) - and to throw in some bacon? You've got breakfast in no time!
Easiest Carrots Ever!
One day i was having a bunch of friends over for some drinks, i had an incredible craving for bacon, and wanted to do some wrapped shrimp, but decided against it because i was already over budget. I was walking around looking for a substitute, and talking it over with my mom. I was looking for something kind of sweet to complement the bacon and we decided on carrots! Best decision ever! This recipe is easy, cheap and amazing! im not great with the exact oven measure or quantities, but with this recipe you can pretty much wing it anyways!

Baconized Swiss Chard
A great way to get someone in my house to eat more veggies, especially the dark green varieties, is to baconize it. There aren’t many things that won’t accept this treatment. Maybe mango wouldn’t be a good idea, although I’ve often had mango next to bacon and eggs for brunch on the weekends.

BLT SALAD
IT COMES FROM ME LEAF LETTUCE, FRESH BACON CRISPY. AND CHERRY TOMATOES MIX ALL TOGETHER CRUMBLE BACON, CUT CHERRY TOMAOTOES IN HALF TOSS WITH MAYO YUMMY

Zucchini and Cherry Tomato saute
Tomatoes are a summer staple, and, for the most part, the large heirlooms are different than but equally enjoyable to their runty cousins. However, I find that cherry tomatoes shine best either raw (like savory candy, pints of which can be wiped out in minutes) or very lightly cooked so they pop or explode in the mouth with a saucy goodness that a bigger sliced version simply lacks. Here is my favorite quick and easy version of the latter. This dish is a wonderful accompaniment to chicken, fish, or shrimp.

BEAT Breakfast Sandwich
This breakfast sandwich recipe combines bacon, egg, avocado, and cherry or grape tomatoes. I find that cherry tomatoes pack more flavor per bite than most.

A Chinese friend shared this recipe many years ago. It couldn't be easier! With the ribs cut apart at the outset, they become completely portable—suitable for eating on the run, and a sensational cocktail nibble.
