Chopped Eggs on English Muffins with Asparagus and Cheese Sauce

This is a dish I make for my family or friends for brunch, particularly at Easter time. It's also a filling, inexpensive "breakfast for supper" dish and is a great way to use up extra eggs.

Doughnut hole pancakes

This seemed like a strange recipe when I first saw it in Gourmet Magazine (I think). The donuts seemed like gilding the Lilly. Then I made them for the kids and I was sweetly surprised. I did, however, omit the sugar and salt from the original recipe because the doughnut holes have plenty of that already.

Valencia Orange Marmalade

For the recipe below, I have combined lemons with Valencia oranges, whose season starts in spring. The tartness of the lemons tempers the natural sweetness of the oranges, playing up the natural strengths of both. They make a stunning pair.

Blintz

These cheesy gooey delights are both sweet and tangy and a perfect every day breakfast with only 4 ingredients. Growing up my mom called them blintz, and it wasn’t until my freshmen year at the cafeteria in college that I realized these are not your traditional blintz. High in protein and low in fat these are the easiest and healthiest “pancakes” I have every made.

The rice used for this Dosai recipe is a special par boiled rice that is labeled & sold as 'idli rice' in the USA, but jasmine rice is a good substitute.

True life support green smoothie

I am new to Food52 and was thrilled with the new contest : celery! I love celery, have it fresh in the house all the time, thought this would be an ideal contest for me. Spent last two days looking for a recipe in which celery is the main game. I braised it but realized that, whilst it was a delight, it needed to be paired with other ingredients food to really shine. I thought I would share my smoothie recipe - the special start to my day.

Vanilla-Stewed Apples + Bananas

This quick fruit recipe is perfect for a chilly morning. The vanilla bean elevates the fruit, while the banana lends some creaminess. It also makes a good afternoon snack, or a light dessert. Delicious on its own, the addition of yogurt, nuts, and coconut does make for a rounder start to the day. It is also really easy to pack this to go.

Kumquat-Earl Grey Marmalade

Since this recipe has no added pectin, it's a bit softer than store-bought marmalade. I love it spread on think slices of toast or spooned into yogurt or müsli. Make sure to choose kumquats that are quite firm, not squishy.

A sage and honey walnut milkshake (with vegan option)

Looking for a new flavor this recipe puts an earthy, savory spin into a traditional buttermilk drink. For a vegan option you can sub almond milk with a splash of cider vinegar for the buttermilk, which will get some tanginess.

Egg KimMuffins

I recently discovered that an H Mart was within driving distance from my house. I went to check it out, left with a cart full of fun stuff, and have been experimenting with all the new Korean ingredients I found. I've really been liking kimchi on sandwiches paired with different kinds of cheeses, and this is my favorite of the moment.

Honey Applesauce

One of my favorite fall activities is apple picking and creating delicious recipes with the bounty I have picked throughout September and October. I have made a few different applesauce recipes in the past but thought I would try something a little different this year. I decided to add just a bit of honey in with the apples. The flavor really comes through without detracting from the delicious taste of the apples. This recipe yields a small quantity but it can be easily doubled or tripled.

Chocolate Shortbread

Chocolate Shortbread

This recipe is originally adapted from an Avoca recipe. I replaced the unsalted butter with salted butter, upped the amount of confectioner's sugar and lessened the bake time by 30-40minutes. The best thing about this particular shortbread is its amazing texture, one that is so buttery and crumbly that it practically melts in your mouth. The shortbread is all at once both salty, sweet and rich-a veritable explosion of flavour which can be enhanced by a chocolate topping. They're incredibly easy to make and keep for at least a week in a sealed tub-perfect as a gift or to munch yourself!

Eleven Madison Park Granola

At the end of every meal at the restaurant Eleven Madison Park, in Manhattan, guests are presented with a small gift: a jar of granola for tomorrow’s breakfast. It is classic Alpine fare, taken straight from the chef Daniel Humm’s childhood in Zurich. The rolled oats are golden with brown sugar and a hint of maple, with salt and a wisp of olive oil for depth. Coconut chips and shelled pistachios provide a hint of whimsy, pumpkin seeds a leathery crunch. Dried sour cherries peek out from here and there, bits of softness to complete the whole. Best of all, the recipe is simple and bulletproof for anyone with a rimmed baking sheet and an oven, at least if you're careful with the kosher salt. Opinions vary greatly over the amount we call for: a whole tablespoon. For some, that is many teaspoons too many. (For many others it is absolutely perfect.) Season to taste.
