Watermelon Paloma
No, this isn't really a Paloma. It's missing the one key ingredient (grapefruit) that distinguishes a Paloma from most other tequila cocktails -- and instead calls on watermelon, that quintessential American summer treat, to do fruit duty.

Blueberry Fool with Yogurt
From Nigel Slater's Ripe (Ten Speed Press, 2012). Slater uses sugar; I prefer honey (and a tablespoon less). Use whichever appeals. He also suggests you chill the fool for an hour before serving; in case you don't have the time or patience, I've eaten it almost immediately after making and found it still irresistible.

Salad with Crisp Croutons
A tasty and light summer salad perfect as a starter, side dish or as a light lunch.

Sweet & Spicy Grilled Fruit
Get your creative juices flowing with grilled fruit! In just minutes you can achieve sweet caramelization that’s a no-brainer for dessert, but don’t miss bringing them to the table as an appetizer or side dish, or saving them for breakfast the next day. Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Sugar-Free Peanut Butter Banana Muffins
This is simple muffin recipe takes only a few easy-to-find ingredients . Even though this recipes calls for no flour, it tastes just like a regular muffin. The secret is the magical combination of eggs and bananas. The sweetness in the recipe comes from the bananas; however, it is very subtle. If you prefer something sweeter, try adding a dash of maple syrup in the batter.

Groovy Chocolate Cherry Coconut Bars
A couple of times a week, I manage to eat every last granola bar/energy bar in my office after my workout. My favorites are the Cherry Pie LARABARs and these groovy chocolate-coconut energy snacks my labmate gets at her local co-op (FYI, we share the stash and replenish as we gobble. I'm not the jerk who secretly eats everyone's lunches). Here, I have combined the two into a yummy homemade snack to share! They are a nice snack before or after a workout and keep well in the freezer and refrigerator. They are also a nice way to ease yourself off of all the sweets you've consumed over the holidays, while also getting a little fiber back into your system :)

A non-fussy way to enjoy some ripe, juicy peaches without turning on your oven

Boozy Sorbet
This sorbet recipe is definitely purposefully extra boozy, unlike other recipes. The watermelon is wonderful in this vodka drink.
Kombucha Berry Ice pops
Bring a burst of winter to a hot summer day, with this nutritious and delicious homemade ice pop. Kombucha provides healing probiotics and beneficial acids. The berries are packed with antioxidants. Added bonus? They’re easy to make and taste sooooo good.

Mango Crostini
Call me crazy, but I grew up eating mangoes on toast for breakfast during the summers every year. My family has this thing for pairing sweet and savory flavors together – not everybody likes it, I can tell you that! I guess its very similar to eating fruits with cheese - just like the French people. Its something about pairing the savory and sweet together – it somehow balances the flavors out. This recipe is inspired from my childhood breakfast

Apricot Lime Fruit Leather
It may be surprising to learn that fruit leather is a classic Lebanese sweet, but it's not surprising that the original is apricot. This recipe plays on that.

Rhubarb Lemonade
I made this lemonade after wanting a simple way to taste fresh rhubarb without cooking/baking/mixing it with much of anything at all. I choose dark stalks for dramatic color.

Watermelon Granita with Blueberries
Nothing says summer like watermelon, and this frozen version is surprisingly simple to make. It is a delightful finish to any meal.
Sour Cherry Granita
I love fresh fruit desserts! Granitas are excellent because they keep the bursting, fresh flavor of fruit waiting patiently in the freezer until you are ready to enjoy it... plus, they're super easy! Notes in parentheses are specific ingredients I used; use whatever you have. This granita is a brilliant, permeating red and was inspired by a recipe in Saveur.

Ginger Turmeric Shake
The one ingredient ice cream made creamier with the addition of an avocado (inspired by Detoxinista's Chocolate Cherry Shake http://detoxinista.com/2013/04/cherry-chocolate-shake-vegan/) and a recipe for turmeric tea (Can't find the link to the news clip of my local Whole Foods Market).

Apricot Jam
I love spring/summer for all the fresh fruits we get to eat! I saw these beautiful apricots at Whole Foods and grabbed a few hoping to make a chutney. I was planning a dinner party with some friends so I figured I’d kill two birds with one stone, I put together a cheese platter just so I could use my new cheese board I got as a birthday gift last year and I made apricot jam instead of chutney to go with the cheese.

Mango Lassisicles
Mango lassi goodness, in frozen stick form. Feel free to embellish, or to use non-Greek yogurt (which will make it slightly more icy).

Louisa Shafia's Watermelon, Mint & Cider Vinegar Tonic
Even if drinking vinegar sounds like a dare—and maybe that's why you ordered it—it's anything but. It's sweet and sour and icy-cold. It vibrates and clangs with fruit and vinegar, and soothes with sweetness and mint. It is the most refreshing drink you will have this summer. And because it's a grown-up drink without alcohol, you can take it on a picnic, at any park, without having to look side-eyed at cops that might pass by. From The New Persian Kitchen (Ten Speed Press, 2013).

Waterlemint Sorbet
Watermelons, lemons, and fresh mint... all awesome summer ingredients wrapped up in one sorbet. The recipe took some inspiration from Jeni's Watermelon Sorbet.

Blackberry Jello Fluff
I wanted to recreate the magic fluff recipe, but this time with Jell-O made from scratch and with blackberries, the fruit that goes best with whipped cream.
