Grandpa Mutschler's Garlic Sausage and Onions
VERY German...my grampa and his brothers were all sent to the US by their dad to stay with an aunt who lived in the US when the clouds of WW1 were gathering....his sisters stayed in Germany, so I know I have a lot of family there I have never met. William Mutschler was a brewer at the Atlas Prager brewery until he retired. And this is one of my favorite snacks I grew up with. Not exactly for everyone...unless you love vinegar and pickled stuff...

There's not a much better gift you can give any time of year than a box of homemade chocolate truffles. They are really easy to make, and everyone is always so impressed. Pig Pulled Over
This recipe serves 16, so living on my own it means two weeks of pulled pork sandwich for lunch. But when each subsequent sandwich surpasses the previous, that can hardly pose a problem. The choice of fruit juice is arbitrary, but I like mango because it reduces into the richest glaze. This method of making coleslaw is inspired by the Taiwanese pickling technique of first making a vinegar simple syrup, then pouring the hot syrup over the vegetables and letting it sit for three days. The result is something incredibly flavourful with a gutsy balance of acidity to cut through the pork’s fattiness.

Fennel and Radish Salad with Orange Honey Vinaigrette
I love salads but often get stuck in ruts, so I search the web for inspiration. I saw a picture of this salad, but there was no recipe included so I decided to do my best at reproducing the image and this is what I came up with, a fresh, crunchy summer salad that is light on the palate and a heavenly combination of sweet and savory.

Grilled Fresh Tomato Sauce
Sauce is one of the best ways to preserve tomatoes. Grilling the tomatoes adds a smokey flavor and softens the skins.

Corn Milk and Tomato Vinaigrette
Good summer corn is a beautiful thing. Sadly, when cut corn is required for a recipe, one of the best parts often goes to waste. Instead of throwing away the cob, and the amazingly flavorful corn milk it contains, I use this recipe to throw together a healthy (and vegan friendly) dressing.
