I like this cocktail recipe and I needed to share it. Celery juice is great for when you want to go without booze. That said it is good with Tequila or Vodka.

Winter Citrus Salad With Belgian Endive

Late winter really is the time for the best citrus.  Produce markets have piles of blood oranges, as well as navel and cara cara oranges and grapefruit, the flesh of each in different vivid brilliant colors.  For this salad, use as many kinds of citrus as possible.  If you can find pomelos, they add their own kind of sweet tanginess. The combined flavor of sweet and sour citrus, fruity olive oil and coarse salt is seductive.

Thai Doc

A simple drink, let's just call it a gin and tonic with Mekhong instead of gin. The tonic gives it a British-colonist-in-the-tropics feel, warding off malaria and such. Because lime is so essential to Thai cooking, some could be convinced that this is a local cocktail. Whereas an acceptable gin and tonic can still be made with not-so-good tonic, Mekhong isn't as forgiving in this regard, so please use a good tonic.

Fig lemon preserves

When we have lots of fresh fig (every summer, twice) I make this. The lemon cuts the sweetness of the fruit and cinnamon adds a little something special without tasting like cinnamon. I make some without and with pecans stirred in last minute. I've also used the crock pot to cook this down, about 4 hours. Too bad my Meyer lemons and figs aren't ripe at same time...

Summer Berry Crostata With Lemon Curd

If the classic fruit tart is a well-heeled matron, a crostata is a lusty peasant girl. Pressed into a fluted mold for form and discipline? Not likely. Roll out the dough, fill it up, crimp it over and slide it into a blazing oven. A crostata is light and unencumbered, the perfect showcase for late summer fruit.

Chocolate orange balls

After making a trifle - I was searching for a way to use up leftover cake pieces. That led me to an old family favourite that I switched up a little to make these rich and delicious chocolate treats. We normally make them at Christmas or give them out as gifts - but they're a delicious indulgence any time of year.
